Absinthe For Windows Now Available for Download

Absinthe – the graphical user interface jailbreak tool is now available for Windows machines. Previously only available for the Mac, the jailbreak tool makes it extremely easy to jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 in a matter of minutes.

Windows users have had another option to hold them over in the meantime; the iPhone Dev Team released a command line utility that worked well, but could prove to be daunting for some users. If you’re a Windows user looking to jailbreak your A5 device, this is your best option. The app is exactly like its Mac counterpart, allowing you to load the untethered exploit onto your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S in a matter of minutes using an easy to use graphical interface.

As i mentioned before, the new jailbreak works with the iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1, and the iPhone 4S running both iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1. And remember, those planning on unlocking their iPhones in the future, should stay on iOS 5.0.

iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak Released

It’s here! The iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was just released after months of anticipation, and months of hard work by pod2g and the rest of the leaders in the jailbreak community.

A huge thanks is owed to the dream team of hackers including pod2g, p0sixninja, MuscleNerd, planetbeing, Saurik, and no-doubt countless others.

Facts: This is the first jailbreak, untethered or otherwise for the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S was released last October, so it took about 3 months for a jailbreak to come to fruition.

This is the second jailbreak for the iPad 2. The first was Comex’s Jailbreakme for iOS 4.3.3. It took a bit over 4 months for the first iPad jailbreak to be released, so the iPhone 4S jailbreak was actually released fairly quick.

The iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak is compatible with the following:

• iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1
• iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1

There will be three jailbreak tools released that are all capable of jailbreaking the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. They are as follows:

• Absinthe – A traditional graphical user interface jailbreak tool. 
• Dev Team CLI – A command line inteface that’s great for troubleshooting. 
• RedSn0w – The Dev Team’s traditional graphical user inteferface used for jailbreaking. This will be released sometime later after the CLI. 

So far, only Absinthe for Mac is available. A Windows version is in the works and should be released shortly. The Dev Team’s CLI shouldn’t be too far away either. We’ll keep you informed as news come.

Apple releases iTunes 10.5.3

.

Along with today’s Education updates, Apple released a new version of iTunes today to allow the syncing of interactive iBooks textbooks to your iPad and to presumably add new features for the “iBooks 2.0″ app and the updated iTunes U program.  This file 107MB download took an additional 257MB of storage space.  Get downloading folks.

What’s new in iTunes 10.5.3

iTunes 10.5.3 allows you to sync interactive iBooks textbooks to your iPad. These multi-touch textbooks are available for purchase from the iTunes Store on your Mac or from the iBookstore included with iBooks 2 on your iPad.

iBooks textbooks are created with “iBooks Author” — now available as a free download on the Mac App Store

iPhone4S & iPad2 Jailbreak: “Not Much Longer Now”

I know. I been telling you the same thing for the last three weeks now, but it seems that this iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak is right around the corner, as Chronic Dev Team frontman P0sixNinja just tweeted that it shouldn’t take much longer now.

Of course, we heard that before,several times. But something tells me, this time it’s for good…
