iOS5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Using Absinthe 2.0.1

Step 1: Download Absinthe 2.0.1 for Windows from our dedicated downloads page.
Step 2: Extract, and right click on the absinthe-win-2.0.1exe icon and select Run as Administrator. This first file is a self extracting zip file. Once you do this, a new folder will be created on your desktop called absinthe-win-2.0.1 with the necessary files.
Step 3: Open the absinthe-win-2.0.1 and right click on the absinthe.exe icon and select Run as Administrator.
Step 4: Connect your eligible iOS 5.1.1 device, and verify that Absinthe recognizes the correct name of your device.
Step 5: Click the jailbreak button on Absinthe, and let it run. You should see a progress bar.
Step 6: Eventually your device will appear as if it’s performing a restore, this is normal.
Step 7: Once the device has completed the “restore”, you should notice the Cydia icon on your Home screen.
Step 8: Once Absinthe reports that the process is complete, you can close Absinthe and disconnect your device.
Step 9: Open Cydia and let it configure itself for the first time. Congratulations, your iOS 5.1.1 device is now jailbroken untethered!

iPhone4S & iPad2 iOS5.1/5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Using Absinthe

Before we get started, you’ll need to make sure that your iPad 2 is on iOS 5.0.1 (iPhone 4S users can be on 5.0 or 5.0.1). You can find that out by going to Settings > General > About. It should say what firmware your on under Version.
Now onto the jailbreaking!
Step 1. Grab Absinthe for Windows from our Downloads page. Once it’s finished downloading, unzip the file and then open it as an administrator.
Step 2. Connect your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to your computer via its USB cable.
Step 3. Once Absinthe has recognized that there is a device connected to your computer, click the Jailbreak button.

How to Jailbreak the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 with Absinthe:Step 1: Download, extract, and run Absinthe from our downloads page.
Step 2: Connect your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 via USB.
Step 3: Click “Jailbreak” to run the Absinthe jailbreak. It will take a while on the beginning portion, and eventually your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 will look like it’s restoring a backup. It will say “Restoring in Progress”. This can be pretty lengthy. Don’t worry, it’s working. Don’t touch your device until completely finished!
Step 4: Once completed, unlock your iPhone if necessary, and you should see an Absinthe icon on the Home screen. You may have to search for it if you have a lot of app icons. Tap the Absinthe icon, and it should load the GreenPois0n site, and will then reboot your device. Once it loads back up, the Cydia icon will have replaced the Absinthe icon.
Step 5: Your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 is now jailbroken! It took a while, but it was certainly worth the wait. Now all that’s left to do is load Cydia for the first time, and start downloading your favorite jailbreak apps and tweaks.

(Mac) How to Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Untether with RedSn0w
Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.10b1 from our downloads page.
Step 2: Plug your iDevice in and put it in DFU mode.
Step 3: Launch RedSn0w and click on “Jailbreak” and select “Install Cydia”.
Let RedSn0w work its magic. In just a few moments, your iDevice should reboot and run an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1.

Step 1: Download RedSn0w from our downloads page and right click and select Properties > Compatibility > select Windows XP Compatibility mode, then click OK.
Step 2: Right click on RedSn0w again and run as an Administrator.
Step 3: Put your iDevice into DFU mode, and click Jailbreak.
Step 4: Your device will now jailbreak, and afterwards you can run Cydia.
By now you’ve probably read my earlier post that there finally is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1. This is thanks to the amazing work of iOS hacker pod2g, but also thanks to GeoHot who found some of these exploits a while back.
As mentioned in my previous post, there are two ways to untether iOS 5.0.1. If you’re already jailbroken, you may want to use Corona Untether 5.0.1. If however you’re still running a stock iOS 5.0.1 version, then below this RedSn0w tutorial is for you (By Jeff@ iDownloadblog)…
Note that unlockers who need to preserve their baseband while updating to the latest iOS version will have to first create a custom firmware using RedSn0w > Extras > Custom IPSW.
