How to get Siri working on iPhone4 no proxy required

Boys & Girls, this is by far the easiest way to get Siri running on your older devices like the iPhone 4, or iPod touch G4, and it requires no proxy server or meticulous setup.
As long as you have a generous friend that’s willing to send you a file from their jailbroken iPhone 4S, you can have Siri running on an older device in just a few minutes.
Inside, iDB@Jeff will show you through how to use AssistantConnect and AssistantConnect4S on video. It’s extremely simple, just follow this brief tutorial…

Step 1: Install Spire on your iPhone 4, or other older device. Once installed go to Settings > General > and enable Siri.

Step 2: Install AssistantConnect4S on an iPhone 4S device, open the AssistantConnect4S app, and reboot your iPhone 4S.

Step 3: Install AssistantConnect on the iPhone 4, or other older device.

Step 4: After your iPhone 4S reboots open AssistantConnect4S, and then invoke Siri, and ask it anything. Once Siri responds, tap the “Email Siri Data” button, and email the data to the iPhone 4, or other non 4S device. Make sure the attachment has a file size (mine reports 0.9kb) to ensure that it’s not empty.

Step 5: On your iPhone 4 or older device, open the email sent from the iPhone 4S with the attachment, and open the attachment. Tap the button that says Open in “AssistantConnect”. AssistantConnect will open to a dialogue that says “File Copied” and “AssistantConnect File Loaded Successfully”. Tap Dismiss, go to your Home screen, and respring or reboot your device.

Step 6: Once your iPhone 4 or older device is back up, hold your Home button to invoke Siri and ask her a question. It should work just like on an iPhone 4S!

And that’s it. This is by far without a doubt the easiest way to get Siri outside of buying your very own iPhone 4S.
Have you tried it? Were you successful? Let us know what your experience has been with AssistantConnection.

iPod Touch Gets Siri From iPhone 4S Backup

This is kind of interesting. After all of the attempts we’ve seen by developers to try and port Siri to non-Apple-supported devices, it appears this guy did it by simply restoring his iPod touch from an iPhone 4S profile.
How’d it happen? Well as Gordon tells it, he recently purchased a late-model white iPod touch. And instead of setting it up as a new device, he decided to restore it from an iCloud backup made from his iPhone 4S…
When the restore was complete, the entire Siri interface had been installed. And although he hasn’t gotten the assistant to connect with Apple’s servers yet, he claims that the Dictation component works flawlessly. Interesting.
Want to see it in action? Cult of Mac contributor Michael Steeber has uploaded a video of the purported iPod touch, with Siri running. The device has been jailbroken, but there doesn’t appear to be any Siri-related tweaks installed.
It’s important to note, before you go trying this on your own, that restoring a device from another’s backups is pretty dangerous. It can lead to bricking, essentially turning a device into an expensive paperweight.
We’re still a bit skeptical about the whole thing, but we have to admit, it is intriguing.
What do you think? Real or fake?

White iPod Touch Coming in October with Small Changes

Apple is expected to hold its next iPhone/iPod event in the next few weeks, and a new report claims that the Cupertino company will release a white iPod touch with minor improvements alongside new iPhone hardware.
Most of the rumors have been focused on the upcoming iPhone, with dozens of part and case leaks pointing towards similar designs. On the iPod front, not much has been said, until now…
MacRumors reports:

“MacRumors has received information indicating that the next iPod touch revision will be a very minor change, with the primary addition being the introduction of a new white model. Only minor changes are expected for the existing hardware, with the addition of an oleophobic coating for the display and a revised ambient light sensor seemingly being the main differences. Otherwise, we expect the models to be nearly identical to the current fourth-generation iPod touch model.”

This is an interesting claim for multiple reasons. Instead of introducing a lower-tier iPhone, it was believed that Apple would create a data-reliant 3G iPod touch for the prepaid market.
Other reports said that the iPod was dying, and that Apple was looking to phase out the product line altogether. That is clearly not the case, as the iPod touch is assuredly going to undergo more changes before it fossilizes in Apple’s line of mobile products.
We’re not sure why Apple would simply refresh the iPod touch with a new color and minor improvements next month. Why not shake things up with something like a pay as you go 3G contract? Perhaps there is something bigger planned for the iPod touch in 2012.
